The Cleveland Taper, Plug, and Bottoming Hand Tap Set, model 1004/900, is designed for use with a 5/16"-24 UNF (Unified National Fine) thread size. This set includes three taps, each made from high-speed steel (HSS), offering excellent durability and performance. The taps are bright-finished to reduce friction and increase efficiency during threading.
The taps in this set feature a Taper, Plug, and Bottoming chamfer style, allowing for the threading of different depths and ease in completing threads at the bottom of a hole. They are straight flute taps with four flutes, which helps with chip removal and ensures smooth cutting. These taps are right-hand cutting and are ideal for general-purpose threading operations.
The thread pitch is 24 threads per inch, and the thread length is 1.1300" (28.70mm). Each tap has an overall length of 2.7200" (69.09mm), with a shank size of 0.3180" (8.08mm) and square end feature. The set comes in a Rose Plastic® UniBox case, which provides safe and organized storage for all pieces.
