The Cleveland Hand Tap, Style #1002 (Item #C54995), is designed for cutting UNC threads with a 1-1/4"-7 UNC size. It is made from high-speed steel (HSS) for durability and precision. The tap features a straight flute design and is equipped with four flutes, which make it ideal for hand tapping in general-purpose threading. The tool has a diameter of 1.2500" (31.75mm) and an overall length of 5.7500" (146.05mm). The tap has a thread length of 2.5600" (65.02mm) and a thread tolerance of 2B, with a tap limit of H4. The chamfer is a plug type, and the threads are ground for added accuracy.
This tap is suitable for use with a variety of materials, including cast iron (K), stainless steel (M), non-ferrous materials like aluminum (N), and steel (P). The shank is straight with a square end, with a square width of 0.7660" (19.46mm) and a length of 1.0000" (25.40mm). It is designed for a depth of cut up to 1.5x the diameter. The bright surface condition provides additional strength, while the right-hand cut ensures efficient threading.
